Puerto Rico’s street dogs, home in the Midwest.

We rescue satos, the homeless dogs of Puerto Rico, and find them loving homes in Wisconsin, Minnesota and sometimes beyond.

How adoption works

One application, every dog.

STEP 01

Apply once

Fill out one application. It covers every dog we have now and the dogs still on their way.

STEP 02

We match

We read every application. When a dog fits your home, we reach out, even if you applied months ago.

STEP 03

Meet

We set up a meet and greet so you and the dog can decide together.

STEP 04

Home

Your sato comes home. We stay in touch, and we love the photos.

What is a sato?

From the beach to the front porch.

In Puerto Rico, the street dogs are called satos. Many live on beaches, at gas stations and outside bakeries, getting by on scraps and kindness.

Chica’s Rescue brings them north, one flight at a time, to families in Wisconsin and Minnesota. They learn about snow. They learn about couches. They are very good at both.
